In our achievement-driven world, we’re often caught between “being” and “becoming.” The challenge of becoming is the constant pressure to improve, which can create resistance and stress. The opportunity of being is the chance to relax, embrace who you are, and unlock your fullest potential by living in the present moment. The journey from becoming to being is not just about actions— it’s about a powerful mindset, a transformative mind shift, and understanding your logical levels-identity, beliefs, capabilities, behavior, and environment. It’s about tapping into, unlocking, and unleashing your greatest potential through discovery, curiosity, and awareness of embodying your true, authentic, and powerful self in fullness, unapologetically, and boldly.
Becoming is the mindset of a past and future-focused perspective that leads to trying and doing externally, which reduces the awareness and ability to be present to look inward and embody the best version of ourselves from a place of acceptance, wholeness, and power. Being is the mindshift that focuses on the perspective of being present in the moment, which leads to allowing and receiving, which increases the awareness and ability to look inward, embrace, and experience the best version of ourselves from a place of acceptance, wholeness, and power. Being opens the door and opportunity to alignment and re-alignment of the logical levels-identity, beliefs, capabilities, behavior, and environment to show up authentically, powerfully, intentionally, and purposefully, attracting the life and freedom we were created for and designed to live!
The Paradox of Growth
The paradox of “being vs becoming” lies within the tension and resistance between two different fundamental approaches to life and the experiences we produce: Being is about embracing who you are right now, yet being open and honest to leveling up. It provides a safe space conducive to relaxation, self-compassion, and overall well-being, which in turn fosters growth and development. Becoming is about striving, improving, and chasing who you want to become, creating resistance and stress, which often closes the door to being and produces the expectation of doing to access the growth you desire. The paradox of growth arises because to “become” your best self, you often feel you must do more, change, or achieve—yet true fulfillment and well-being are found in “being” present and accepting yourself as you are, which creates space and opportunity to expand your capacity and experience. Growth is allowed and not forced. Rather than pushing yourself to become something more, focus on allowing yourself to embrace and express who you already are fully. Becoming can create restriction, where being can create freedom.
The Power and Opportunity of Being
Let’s tap into and discuss the power and opportunity that comes with being instead of just doing. Being is about presence, acceptance, and authenticity. When you embody being, you allow yourself to relax and let go of judgment. The power of grace and space is at work, cultivating a state of positivity, high vibration, and attraction. This state nurtures well-being and wholeness, as you’re not pressured to constantly change or prove yourself. Being present means tuning into the frequency to align your feelings and embracing your true self, which fosters genuine happiness, resourcefulness, empowerment, and resilience. At the logical level, being aligns your environment, behaviors, capabilities, beliefs, values, and identity, creating harmony and inner peace. This is the mindset of self-acceptance, self-love, self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-mastery—a mind shift from striving for becoming to thriving and flourishing in being.
The Challenge and Resistance of Becoming
There is a challenge of becoming that increases resistance, stress, and can be very weighty. Becoming is what sparks the engine of ambition and growth, but its challenge is the risk of perpetual dissatisfaction—always chasing the next milestone and never feeling “enough.” This creates resistance, as you postpone self-acceptance and fulfillment, waiting until you’ve “arrived.” The expectation of constantly doing can pull you away from the present, making it harder to embody the feelings and qualities you desire and deserve right now. At the logical levels, becoming often focuses on changing behaviors or capabilities, but neglects deeper shifts in beliefs, values, and identity.
Shifting your mindset from “I must do more to be enough” to “I am enough as I am” is the mind shift that unlocks true well-being and power. Fully embrace and express who you already are—stepping into the unique greatness and freedom you were designed to embody and bring forth in the world.
How to Shift from Becoming to Being: Mindset, Mindshift, and Practical Steps
How do we shift from becoming to being? What role do mindset and mind shift play in this transition? Transitioning from becoming to being requires intentional practice, a conscious mind shift, and alignment across logical levels-Identity, Beliefs(values), Capabilities, Behavior, and Environment. There are some practical steps incorporated with the logical levels that we can take to help facilitate this transformation process of becoming and instead foster embodying being.
:
Pause and Reflect: Regularly check in with your thoughts and feelings (environment and behavior).
Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Use meditation, journaling, or mindful breathing to anchor yourself in the present (capabilities) and allow yourself to be aware and relax.
Set Realistic Goals: Use SMART Goals and track your progress to pursue growth, but celebrate small wins and progress (behavior and capabilities).
Embrace Self-Compassion: Accept, love, give grace, and treat yourself with kindness (beliefs and values).
Connect Authentically: Focus on being the best version of yourself and connecting to genuine relationships, not just achievements (values and identity).
Adopt a Growth Mindset: See challenges as opportunities for learning, growing, and exploring, and not as failure, problems, or something negative (beliefs).
Mindshift to being Present: Remind yourself that you can embody who you want to be right now, not just in the future (identity). Live from that identity and embrace the feeling of “being” the person you desire and deserve to be in the present.
The benefits are profound: greater peace, improved well-being, stronger relationships, and a deeper sense of purpose, fulfillment, freedom, and harmony.
Conclusion: Embody Being—Live Your Best Life
The journey from becoming to being isn’t about abandoning growth, but about integrating it with presence and acceptance. It’s not about striving or trying harder, but allowing and receiving, which positions you for a greater experience and results. Start today by carving out moments and opportunities to cultivate and foster the mindset to simply be—notice, appreciate, explore, celebrate, and connect with yourself and others. Being is the mindshift that focuses on the perspective of being present in the moment, which leads to allowing, receiving, embodying, embracing, exploring, and experiencing the freedom of being the best version of yourself and truly living your best life now.
